All Purpose Meat Seasoning

Hello all.  It’s been a while.  I’ve been busy with home schooling my son, teaching two classes at our home school co-op, Train up A Child Christian Home Schoolers (TRACCHS), getting my catering business, Christian’s Bread of Life (CBL), up and running, in addition to so many other things that I find it hard to maintain sanity.  On top of all this, I begin grad school in a few short weeks to earn my second graduate degree, this one in adolescent literacy.

I will continue blogging because it is my creative outlet for writing.  Thank you all for joining me for the ride.  I appreciate your support.  Please share my blog with your friends.

Now, on to the recipe for my general all purpose meat seasoning.  I’ve used it for years in various recipes from meats to dips, and it an integral part to the next recipe I post.  I always threw the ingredients together without giving much attention to measurements, until a friend kept asking what I put in it.  That forced me to pay closer attention, so hear it is.

¼ cup each of onion power and garlic powder (or granulated garlic)

2 tsp paprika (I use a combination of Hungarian and smoked)

½ tsp cumin

1 ½ tsp oregano

1 tsp thyme

½ tsp chili powder

¼ tsp cinnamon (I know it sounds strange, but it works)

That’s it.  I keep it in a jar and use it as needed.

I will be posting my recipe for Panamanian Arroz con Pollo soon.  You may think you know arroz con pollo, but I assure you, the Panamanian version, at least the way my mother made it, is not the average dish with which you may be familiar.
